Private Land Conservation Matters Project

About the Private Land Conservation Project

The Private Land Conservation Matters (PLCM) Project is an initiative by Landcare NSW and Biodiversity Conservation Trust aimed at advancing conservation efforts on private lands. South East Landcare is collaborating with eight District Landcare groups to deliver a series of events in the region covering a diverse range of topics including reptiles and conservation, fungi, citizen science, regeneration, gliders, sustainable farming and dams and threatened species.

Events & Activities

This year we have an exciting range of events planned for the Private Land Conservation Matters Project, a collaboration with the Biodiversity Conservation Trust and Landcare NSW.

Love Reptiles

We are kicking off a series of fantastic events with a webinar about reptiles and their role in the environment. The webinar will be followed by reptile discovery events in the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and Illawarra. Have you ever wondered what purpose reptiles play in the environment? What niche do they fill and how can you help them thrive in your conservation area? Probably the least understood and feared animal in Australia, this webinar is an opportunity to learn more about reptiles, snakes and lizards and how they can be encouraged to call your place home.

Farm Dam Workshop

Foxground Fireshed  Saturday, 4 May 2024, 9:45 AM to 4:00 PM

Do you have a farm dam on your property? The workshop will build skills and knowledge for farm managers to increase the sustainability of farms by maximising the biodiversity benefits of on-farm dams with a practical focus on issues such as: reintroducing native plants to farm dams; tackling invasive species in farm dams; and using farm dams to support native fauna in periods of drought. These measures will also enhance habitat with suitable plantings and methods to improve access and reduce erosion around dams.
