Graziers gathered for our recent Grazing for Tomorrow workshop, eager to explore strategies for managing risks and fostering positive outcomes for our land, businesses, and well-being. Here’s a glimpse into what the group experienced:
Personal Perspectives: Our host, David Marsh, took centre stage, sharing his transformative journey in grazing business management. Through his personal narrative, attendees gained invaluable insights into navigating unexpected challenges across environmental, personal, and economic spheres.
Empowering with Climate Tools: Farmlink’s Sarah Clarry, introduced graziers to new climate tool, My Climate View which is designed to empower informed decision-making for their farming operations. Equipped with these tools, attendees could better anticipate and adapt to shifting environmental conditions.
Assessing Natural Assets: Danny O’Brien took the group through the results from the Farming for the Future Project. Where participants delved into methods for assessing and enhancing a farm’s natural assets. This understanding facilitated management changes aimed at building a more resilient farm business prepared for various challenges.
Fire Preparedness: Invaluable insights from local Rural Fire Service (RFS) officials illuminated the importance of fire preparedness. Practical steps to reduce fuel loads and innovative trials for granting farmers legal access to firefighting vehicles during emergencies were discussed, enhancing readiness for fire seasons.
Support Services: Exploring the array of support services provided by Local Land Services was enlightening. From veterinary assistance to emergency supplies, graziers gained insights into preparing for and recovering from natural disasters with enhanced support systems.
It was a truly fantastic day of learning, networking, and growth. With each interaction and insight gained, attendees left feeling empowered and inspired.
