South East Landcare’s Regional Community of Practice Day at Gidgleigh Stock Reserve brought together coordinators, chairs, and volunteers for cultural awareness training, hands-on biodiversity assessment, and a bush tucker lunch. The afternoon Network Chairs Meeting strengthened connections across district networks, with discussions on coordinator support, collaborative events, and regional cooperation.
Tree hollows and fallen logs provide important homes for Australian wildlife, but they’re disappearing at an alarming rate. Trees are essential for native wildlife to find food, shelter and places to roost and nest. Hollow-bearing tees are especially important because many species use these hollows daily and seasonally to nest and raise their young.
Several South East Landcare groups will be featured at this year’s National Landcare Conference, including Hovells Creek Landcare, who will showcase their innovative erosion control project improving land and water health across the Lachlan River catchment.
